Pioneering floating wind in Italy

The Divento consortium is pioneering the Italian offshore wind floating industry, with five projects located approximately 30 km off the coasts of Sicily, Latium, and Sardinia.

Divento is a partnership established in early 2022 between GreenIT (the Italian renewable energy joint venture between Plenitude and CDP Equity), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and the co-founders of the projects: 7Seas Windpower and NiceTechnology.

The partnership’s offshore wind portfolio in Italy, totalling almost 3 GW with a yearly production of around 8 TWh of renewable energy, will be enough to satisfy the electricity consumption of around 3 million households, contributing to the decarbonization objectives of the 2030 National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan. The portfolio includes the first floating wind farm in Italy to receive a positive EIA from the authorities.

The offshore projects will use floating foundations, employing innovative technical solutions designed to minimize environmental and visual impact. These projects will also benefit from technological and logistical synergies with other offshore wind initiatives managed within the same partnership.
